A certified HypnoDoula and Bengkung Belly Binding practitioner, Sarah believes that every pregnancy and birth is sacred and unique. Sarah is a passionate advocate for the birthing mother, and understands that every woman has the right to birth where she feels the most fearless and powerful, whether at a birth center, home or hospital. The transition into motherhood is the most important time in our lives and we should feel empowered, accomplished, loved and supported throughout the whole experience.
Sarah is comfortable and skilled in supporting un-medicated, medicated, and cesarean births and does her utmost to make sure that every woman feels supported and embraced throughout pregnancy and birth, and welcomed into motherhood and expanding her family with open arms.
Every birth is different!! Sarah has personally experienced two hospital births with epidurals, one assisted home birth, and one un-medicated hospital birth! Each one of her birth experiences has been a valuable step along her path as a birth worker. Sarah has a heart of gold and brings a warm, reassuring presence in the birthing room that her couples have found incredibly comforting. She works respectively and beautifully with care providers to help create a circle of love and support for the birthing mother and partner.
For centuries women in many cultures around the world have used abdominal compression after child birth. Belly binding is a must and helps support round ligaments, internal organs, pelvic floor, back (great posture while breastfeeding), keeps pelvis and hips together and feeling tight, brings in ribs, helps with diastis recti, releases retained water, extra fluids and trapped air from birth. One of the biggest gains from binding is ridding the 'empty' womb feeling after birth. It will make you feel physically full. By taking care of the emptiness, it will help heal emotionally.
Sarah has trained in different methods of post partum binding and offers customized binds using approximately 25yds of muslin, batik, or a polyester and cotton blend.
Store bought post partum products are not comparable! Sarah started searching for a custom bind after trying everything on the market! She is a huge advocate for post partum health and nurturing the new body.
“We were very hesitant in getting a doula for the birth of our first child. After learning all my daddy-doula skills, I thought I was going to be enough to support my wife through her labor. We eventually decided on using Sarah as our doula.
This was probably one of the best decisions we made for her pregnancy. Sarah from the very beginning was very personable and accommodating to our needs. By the time of the birth Sarah felt as if she was one of our long time friends.
The amount of knowledge and ability to comfort my wife during her non-medicated labor was very empowering to watch. Sarah was also extremely helpful after the birth by teaching us how to do belly binding. My wife felt this was a very crucial part for her recovery after the birth. We will be definitely using her again!”

“Labor is such a difficult thing. So many people pulling your choices every which way and trying to influence those choices, from family to Doctors and nurse.
I am so grateful I had you there. I'm not going to lie, I was a bit discouraged when I got to the hospital and was just 3 centimeters. Everyone was there but I didn't want to be hurried in my labor by hospital staff and thought about just going home.
You were so key there in helping me to weight out my options. I knew you really just wanted the best for me and want me to feel empowered. We talked it over and agreed with the nurse to give it an hour to see how much I would progress.
That's when the party started! We had a blast dancing in the waiting area at midnight. You helped me so much by easing my anxiety, massaging pressure points with oil, applying counter pressure and directing me in to squats to put pressure on my cervix.
After that hour, wow, I was at 6 centimeters and almost fully effaced. I was so happy and so ready to have my baby. Then things started getting even more intense, you helped me so much to stay relaxed with light touch and encouragement.
You helped give me options when I was laboring in the tub and on the bed and always listen and respected me if I didn't like something. Then the really hard part came and you were my rock!
When I felt I couldn't keep going you were there to encourage and strength me. Thank you so much for everything you have done! You are such an amazing Doula!”

“Sarah is amazing! I loved her the moment I met her. 6 months later she was the most crucial member of my birth team! I had 3 midwives, my husband, and mother in law and I needed her the most! I reached for her the entire labor. For my 12 hour labor she never left my side. I would absolutely recommend her as a doula! After birth she came to bind me. Her binding is amazing! I immediately felt whole again. I couldn’t live with out my bind. It feels great. I would spend double to have her at my next birth! Highly recommend her as a doula and friend!”

“Sarah is such an amazing birth coach. She helped me breathe through some pretty rough contractions and when my labor started progressing more quickly than anticipated, she was absolutely instrumental in helping me make it to the hospital on time so I didn’t end up with an “unintended home” or “enroute to hospital” birth! She has such an easy manner and soothing voice and is ever so encouraging, but was also direct when she could tell I needed just that to get me going to the hospital. Thank you, Sarah! With Zack trying but unable to get back from New York in time, I dare not think about how things would have gone without you! p.s. I’m loving the postnatal belly bind!”
